Cigar Logistics expands its service offering
The Swiss-based specialist has broadened its services beyond bonded storage and fulfilment to provide manufacturers and distributors with a more complete logistics platform for the premium cigar trade.
Cigar Logistics has expanded its service offering as it continues to develop its role as a specialist logistics partner for premium cigar manufacturers, importers and distributors.
Operating from Switzerland, the business was originally established around bonded cigar storage, inventory management and B2B fulfilment. Its expanded model now provides support across a wider part of the supply chain, helping cigar companies manage products from arrival in Europe through storage, order preparation and onward distribution.
The expanded service offering includes bonded warehousing, inbound shipment handling, inspection and quality-control coordination, inventory management, pick and pack, export documentation and international dispatch.
Cigar Logistics can also support manufacturers entering or expanding within European markets by coordinating movements between its Swiss bonded hub and appointed importers or distributors in individual countries. The objective is to give cigar companies a single operational point from which inventory can be managed before products are released into their respective destination markets.
Switzerland’s position outside the European Union also allows goods destined for multiple international markets to remain under bond until their final destination is determined, providing manufacturers with greater flexibility in managing inventory and distribution.
Built specifically for cigars
Unlike general-purpose fulfilment providers, Cigar Logistics has been developed specifically around the storage and handling requirements of premium cigars.
Products are maintained in controlled conditions appropriate for long-term cigar storage, while inventory is managed at box and SKU level to accommodate the different formats, vitolas and packaging commonly found within the premium cigar industry.
Services can be tailored according to the needs of individual brands, from relatively small specialist manufacturers entering Europe for the first time to established companies requiring additional warehousing or fulfilment capacity. The expanded model can include:
- bonded storage in Switzerland
- inbound shipment receiving and inventory registration
- inspection and quality-control coordination
- humidity-appropriate cigar storage
- inventory management
- B2B order preparation
- pick and pack
- export and shipping documentation
- international dispatch
- coordination with appointed European importers and distributors
- reporting and ongoing inventory oversight
Supporting manufacturers entering Europe
One area of particular focus is working with cigar manufacturers that produce in markets such as the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras but do not want to establish their own warehousing infrastructure in Europe.
Inventory can be shipped to the Swiss facility, held under bond and subsequently allocated to distributors, retailers or other markets as required. This can provide manufacturers with greater control over stock while avoiding the need to commit all inventory to a single market immediately upon arrival.
Cigar Logistics can also work alongside established importers and distributors rather than replacing them, providing the physical storage and operational infrastructure behind the distribution network.
Part of Premier Cigar Group
Cigar Logistics forms part of Premier Cigar Group, whose activities span premium cigar retail, logistics, distribution and cigar-business development.
The wider group’s experience across different areas of the cigar trade allows Cigar Logistics to approach fulfilment from an industry perspective rather than purely as a warehousing operation.
The expanded service offering represents the next stage in the development of Cigar Logistics as a dedicated infrastructure partner for the international premium cigar industry.
